How to set up T-Mobile call forwarding to an AI answering service
If you use T-Mobile for your business phone, setting up call forwarding takes about 60 seconds. You can forward all calls or just the ones you miss. Here's exactly how to do it.
Before you start
You'll need your CallHush phone number. You get this when you sign up - it's the dedicated number Lexi answers on. Have it handy before you start dialing codes.
Option 1: Forward all calls (recommended for after hours)
This sends every incoming call directly to your AI answering service. Good for after-hours, weekends, or when you're on vacation.
To activate:
*72 + [your CallHush number] + tap Call
Example: *72 5125550100 then tap the green Call button.
You'll hear a confirmation tone. All incoming calls now go to Lexi.
To deactivate:
*73 + tap Call
Calls go back to ringing your phone as normal.
Option 2: Forward only when you don't answer (best for busy hours)
This is the setup most business owners prefer. Your phone rings normally. If you don't pick up within a few rings, the call forwards to Lexi. You get first crack at answering, but no call goes to voicemail.
To activate (forward when unanswered):
**61*[your CallHush number]# + tap Call
Example: **61*5125550100# then tap Call.
If you don't answer within ~15-20 seconds, the call goes to Lexi instead of voicemail.
To deactivate:
##61# + tap Call
Option 3: Forward when phone is off or unreachable
This covers the case where your phone is dead, in airplane mode, or out of service area. Calls forward to Lexi instead of going to voicemail.
To activate:
**62*[your CallHush number]# + tap Call
Example: **62*5125550100# then tap Call.
To deactivate:
##62# + tap Call
Pro tip: Most business owners set up both **61* (unanswered) and **62* (unreachable). This way, Lexi catches calls whether you're busy on another call, in a meeting, or your phone battery died.

If you prefer not to dial codes, you can set up call forwarding through the T-Mobile app:
- Open the T-Mobile app (or go to my.t-mobile.com)
- Tap Account at the bottom
- Select your phone line
- Tap Manage add-ons or Line settings
- Find Call forwarding under calling features
- Enter your CallHush phone number
- Choose when to forward: always, when busy, or when unanswered
- Save
Note: The app interface may vary slightly depending on your plan and device. If you don't see call forwarding options in the app, the dial codes above always work.
Quick reference: all T-Mobile dial codes
| Action | Code |
|---|---|
| Forward all calls | *72 + number |
| Cancel forward all | *73 |
| Forward when unanswered | **61*number# |
| Cancel unanswered forward | ##61# |
| Forward when unreachable | **62*number# |
| Cancel unreachable forward | ##62# |
What happens after you set it up
Once call forwarding is active, here's the flow: a customer calls your T-Mobile number, it forwards to your CallHush number, Lexi answers with your business name, has a natural conversation, and you get a structured email summary within seconds.
Your callers never know they're talking to an AI. They just know someone professional answered the phone.
